Organ Recital With Trinity’s Own Daniel J. Carlozzi
On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, Daniel J. Carlozzi, ‘13 will be giving an organ recital at St. John’s Episcopal Church in East Hartford. Carlozzi is a biology major and philosophy minor. His musical studies began over ten years ago when he started to learn the piano. Carlozzi began studying the organ last October with Professor John Rose. Under his tutelage, Carlozzi was appointed organist at St. John’s while concurrently holding an appointment as Assistant Organist at Trinity. Carlozzi’s talent has paid off in other ways as well: this year he was named the John Rose Organ Scholar.
Carlozzi’s drew inspiration from a Trinity graduate, Chris Houlihan, ’09, when he performed at the Chapel last year. “Hearing Houlihan perform was a turning point for me. I had never really thought about pursuing the organ before, and did not even know that Trinity offered organ lessons. After I looked into it, I found out about Professor Rose’s class and signed up as soon as I could.”
The recital promises to be exciting with works by Bach, Daquin, Fox, Langlais and Vierne. The emphasis will be on German, French and American organ compositions. It will be a brief recital as a part of East Hartford’s Holiday Fest.
